When you find out that women from over 10 different countries are coming to Little Rock, AR to speak about topics ranging from “Women in STEM” to “Social Entrepreneurship” — your ears perk up. At least mine did.
This year marked the first World Woman Summit to be hosted in Arkansas. Originally founded in Los Angeles, the World Woman Foundation focuses on gender harmony, and works toward better resources and inclusiveness for women. As a woman working in the field of web development and analytics, I definitely wanted to be part of this.
Thoma Thoma was fortunate enough to be asked to co-chair the event and provide social media support including live tweeting for the pre-event at the ESSE Purse Museum and day-of coverage at the Clinton Presidential Center. And wow, what an event to cover!

Trust us, covering an event like this definitely has its challenges. With around five panelist discussions of five-plus speakers per panel, there was a ton of content to develop, share and organize. Having a solid team makes all the difference.
Included in the Thoma tribe was help from the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) — with our mighty team of James Rector and Emiley Bee from YNPN, and Sara Neal and myself (Ashley Steele) of Thoma Thoma leading the social media table. We were able to get great coverage of all the speakers and many of our VIP delegates. And The Results
The conference spanned just one weekend but involved months of planning and preparation for the summit. We were proud to see the results from our social media strategy and coverage.
As a result, we were able to increase the World Woman Summit’s Twitter stats tremendously (28 day period vs. previous 28 day period):
- Tweets by 331%
- Tweet impressions by 85%
- Profile visits by 132%
- Mentions by 2,200%
Additionally, the Thoma team garnered the event’s hashtag #genderharmony and handle @worldwomanfund a trending status on Twitter.
We were able to produce similar results via the Summit’s Facebook page (7 day period vs. previous 7 day period):
- Actions on Page by 100%
- Page Views by 135%
- Page Previews by 300%
- Page Likes by 36%
- Reach by 249%
- Post Engagement by 454%
- Video Views by 50,200%
- Page Followers by 39%
All in all, the event was a success! In addition to the above results, social media has increased their online form submissions as well as gaining external media attention — bringing more awareness to the World Woman Foundation’s initiative.
